Polish Art Center was originally created in 1958 by the Polish immigrant Joseph Kalenkiewicz. Polish Art Center was located in the centre of Hamtramark and was later sold to Raymond and Joan Bittner in 1973. This dream actually began in 1967, when Raymond fell in love with Poland for the first time in an educational pilgrimage. Later, he met Joan, a Canadian of Scottish descent, and Joan soon became fascinated with Raymond's Polish heritage. Two residents of Farmington Mountain moved to Hamtramark after marriage and eventually welcomed three children who will continue to help support the family business.
